Taking place in Tokyo today, it follows the journey of Ryoma Echizen, who is a a tennis prodigy. He enrolled to a school called Seishun Academy Middle School (Seishun Gakuen), or in short Seigaku, a school famous for its strong tennis club and talented players. Because of his cool and apathetic attitude, upperclassmen challenge him to play tennis. However, Ryoma had won the American junior tennis championship tournaments four times in a row, and easily defeated the upperclassmen.

I must say I'm impressed . A lot of anime/manga based on sports often feautre boring char
designs , predictable plots , and single matches can take us to conclude.Prince of Tennis, however, breaks the barriers of its genre stereotype. It provides you with quick, action-packed episodes that are neither overly drawn-out nor predictable. The numerous characters are well-developed and speak excellent dialogue .
The anime is very, very faithful to this original Shounen Jump title. In fact, after reading the first few chapters it's evident that even some exact lines hit both mediums. The drawing style, too, is similar. The anime follows the manga pretty much chapter by chapter, and there are few (if any) filler episodes (commendable; filler episodes are often ... *cough*boring*cough*). The only small thing that bugs me about the manga is that the proportions sometimes seem a bit off in the art, but maybe it's just me.
Since the anime and manga are so similar, pretty much everything to be said about the manga is in the anime section. No, really, I'm not lazy at all.
For those reading the manga, I think chapters 250+ (until chapter 293 so far) qualifies as the Nationals Arc. This is when all our favourite characters go into battle at the Nationals level. Besides the original schools, e.g. Seishun Gakuen and Hyoutei Gakuen, a few new schools enter the fray, e.g. Okinawa Higa Jr. High. This story arc is also when Prince of Tennis descends into ultimate Dragonball-style
