Today was enjoyable
When I got up today to see if Kyon was still in bed he wasn’t (as expected) but I noticed Kyon’s open notebook. On it I could see the line “Why would she do all this?” Seemingly his answer below it was blank. I was tempted to write something in it but I decided not to. There was also a bag that was apparently delivered by Shichi before I awoke.
I went to go look for him but he was not far. He was in the kitchen doing… dishes. After I asked him what he was doing (And was given the predictable response of exactly what he was doing) I asked him why. All he did was point behind him towards the kitchen table. There was my mother at the table, she responded with “He insisted” and resumed on eating her breakfast. He chimed in with “I’m allowed to walk around today as long as I stay home supervised” That’s when I gave up on trying to get him to stay in bed. I sat at the table and asked what was with the extravagant breakfast my mother was eating.
A plate was then placed in front or me by Kyon. On it was an omelet; it had green andred pepper along with sting beans. He then placed a smaller plate that had toast that was lightly buttered. Last of all he placed a teacup and a saucer. I still was not thinking and began to thank my mother for the nice breakfast only to be told that he made it.
Kyon then set his placed down his own plate and accessories and began to eat as well.
My Mother: “Do you cook for you family at your house?”
Kyon: “No, I just cook for myself”
My Mother: “You should, this is good”
Kyon: “Is it?”
Me: “It is”
My Mother: “Do you like to make omelets? It seems like you have made them before”
Kyon: “No, today as the first time I have made one”
Oh the breakfast was good! It was not too big, tasted well, and… well I’m surprised that he went though all that effort. But what surprised me the most was
Me: “You must eat with your family like this everyday then”
Kyon: “… No I don’t”
Me: “You don’t?”
Kyon: “No, I don’t eat with my family”
Me: “Why?”
Kyon: “Father is usually never around and mother does not eat much and is usually in bed”
My Mother: “Then you can eat with us whenever you like”
Kyon: “Th-thank’s”
I felt bad that I put him into that situation. But he said that as if it was normal for him not to be with anyone. It’s really just saddening. It makes me want to stay with him all the time.
You know what? I think I’m going to write in that notebook. Don’t care if he is awake I’m going to do it.
There I did it. I flipped to that page I saw this morning and, took his pen and wrote “Because I care”
… Not what I wanted to say but… I couldn’t
Tomorrow is the last day of classes… I wonder what I will do.
