Anime Conventions! - FTP-Anime Forums

So I'm in my first year of college and I met a bunch of new friends. One of these friends was kind enough to invite me to my first ever anime convention *squeees* It's going to be Anime North this May in Toronto. I'm soooooo excited and I might cosplay as Integra from Hellsing! BUT I know nothing about anime cons and so I thought it'd be an interesting topic for the forum. So any con stories/info you're willing share you just let a rip cuz I'm all ears err eyes I mean. WHOOT !victory1

You are going to a place like where people dress like characters in some anime move/serie am i right? and in the end the best outfit can win a price right?

Well if i am right you should try to have/buy a outfit that looks like that characters and very importent that you kinda act like him abit. maybe when you stand still you stand like him. or that maybe you scratch your head all the time as he doues or something. very small but importent thing. and the most importent thing have fun hahaha cuzz i always have fun in things like that in sweden

I don't know anything about Anime Cons, but Himeno does. She cosplays all the time from what I've understood.

ZOMG! Sir integra! That's totally awsom!
As for advice about Coventions. I went to my first one in august this year. It was loads of fun, there were so many cosplayers. My only advice is to, firstly, try and atleast take a quick look at all the events that are happening (make sure you download a festival guide online too, otherwise it'll be impossible) and secondly, don't get sepparated from whoever your going with, i don't know how big anime north is but it's pretty much guaranteed to be packed with people and lastly, save up some money! You never know what goodies you might find in the stalls.
Good luck! And if you get the cosplay finished, could you post it on the forums? It sounds awsom!

I'll toss in two cents here. They got one here in D-town, costs quite a bit for the three days. Maybe I'll volunteer and haul boxes, that way I get in free.

TIps on anime cons... don't be presuaded to get in free by doing some work... unless standing up for 6 hours is ur idea of fun

I've been to 2 anime cons in my life so far... though i plan on going to more. Expect to me very gleaful there :}

Yeah last thing I want is to be stuck wearing a yoke and feedbag during breaks. Hmm...suddenly I'm reminded of the Cathouse.

I'm curious about everyone's tips too >.> I passed up going to Ohayocon this year because I wasn't sure exactly what was going to be happening and if my friend and I would stand out since we weren't planning on cosplaying =/

So how were your con experiences?
