Those types of anime are reserved for Japanese folk tales. There's a good series I watched called Legend of the Dog Warriors.

It's pretty serious, and there's a different guest artist working on each episode. It gets dry in some areas, but it's one of the more intense animes.

I've seen the first few episodes and so far it looks pretty cool!
Just too bad the animation is so old, but still looks awesome.

OLD! Hmph, well I guess it was awhile ago. I forget just how old I am sometimes. 25% of my life gone already. And all I have to show for it is this *holding hentai collection* Wonder if it's too late to join the Peace Corps?

I wouldn't mind seeing Shakespear in anime form as long as it's dubbed with the same speech used in the old days and the words are taken word for word from his books. (And they dubbing has to be perfect, proper voice actors needed!)
