i want to start look at gundam and what gundam do i need to look at first

How many flavors of Gundam were there? There was the one with the sullen spiky haired dude, the one made in the seventies that looks old. I keep waiting for some kind of Gundam fusion. Gundam Battle Atheletes...better not let that one get out, may miss out on some royalties.

Okay lets list all the gundams, not including other mech shows (though those are also good)
You have:

Gundam (orginal, only good if you like old school and you can find it :/ )
Gundam MS08 team (A good 6 episode ova, mind you all these things are different from each other)
Gundam Wing (A must watch)
Gundam Seed (actually a remake of the original gundam)
Gundam Seed destiny (Second season to Gundam seed and rather quite bad)
G Gundam (a totally different look on the gundam universe, I wouldn't suggest this one)
Turn A Gundam (rather good show, haven't had the pleasure of watching it myself yet)
Gundam 00 (just released, again takes parts of original gundam...)

And that about covers most of the gundam universe. If i were you I'd start with Gundam Wing and go onto Gundam Seed and then Turn A Gundam, Gundam MS08 team, and then start watching then currently being released series Gundam 00. Don't watch Gundam seed destiny or G Gundam, those shows aren't that good >.<

LOL.. robotech isn't relaly an anime... It's a mix of three shows that where randomly thrown toghether by an american company back in the 1980's...

I don't know, you see a fan-service laden mess like Eiken and you'd think it was hentai, but it's classified as anime.

All I remember from Robotech was some girl with amnesia and she was part of the alien race...Anyways it was back in the early 80's and I was barely in 1st grade.
