anime or cartoon which one is better in your opinion and why?

I have a general question about fantasy world ,
what is differnt between cartoon and anime?
So what do you all think is anime a cartoon?!?! And do you get angry when someone calls anime a cartoon!??!

hmm...well for me i believe anime is a type of cartoon...but its just different...i guess its hard to describe...and i like both anime and cartoons...its just different i think anime hmm...well sort of has more depth to it because some are targeted towards older people...and cartoons...i think of as like disney channel and stuff...OH one thing...i think that makes a difference...is that to me anime is WAYYY more detailed like the drawings have so much more detail than just a regular cartoon =) yes that's my opinion however vague it is...=)

the difference is that anime anime the chars are more realistic the body is better drawed and it does matter how it looks like.

I'm cartoon it doen't matter how the face and body looks like there are no limits and it doesn't have to be realistic.

Yeah, just compare something like totally spies (Cartoon) and Black Cat (Anime). Though there is something in common, Black Cat is way more detailed.

(Also, you remember some parts of FMA where they look like cartoons?, that's what I'm talking about)

uhm ... I think we cant close this aregument with afew exaple like comparing spies , black cat and johny bravo.

infact this is a very complicated topic.
some people who knows fundimental of drawing , sketches believe they slightly differnt.

lets look at it from a differnt point of the view.
what is a real purpose of creation of anime and cartoon ?
if you ask it from for example an animator the will tell you they tried put one step forward beyond the line which seperate fantasy world and real world for eaxample fantasy world advent chidren which deserve full credit (one big sucsess ) . on the other hand we can be less and less sure of the 'true' nature of what we are seeing on screen. here i agree with sensei and specially conyaku.

but conyaku mentioned the second purpose which is targeting a vast range of the people, like some animation just only produced for adult ,

I am disagree with his opinion , the reason is if i provide some differnet sensei avatar and draw on transparent sheets which may then be layed on top of each other to combine char and bachground I simply craete a cel animation (animation type one dispite his char which is not real or doesnt have limit) is it intresting ?

funny thing is the world of animation is beyond all things that I said , for example i even didnt talk about stop motion animation which is at first sight it really doesnt look like animation ,.like nightmare before christmas (another master piece).


i would like make flash back to the final fantasy , earlier i discussed , yes this is the third type .

well I am really curious to learn more about the world of animation.

Anime is just a japanese cartoon ;)

Cartoon usually are not realistic, amime are. And there are other style of drawing. Anyway, better if you watch some anime and cartoon - similiar but different. I never saw a cartoon with good plot or melancholic style, but I saw few anime.

uhm.. i think anime is Japanese Cartoon, and cartoon comes from US,

and i also think that anime is more realistic than cartoon.
well.. i do get upset when ppl call anime = cartoon.
coz i believe anime is totally different from cartoon

anime it makes more sense then cartoons and more life like plus it was drawn in japan yeah i get angry when somebody calls anime a cartoon esspecially when its my mom who lives to make me mad

check the drawings of anime and from cartoons the drawing from anime is much more pesific then the cartoons and anime is much better with stories
