The episode plots themselves shared little relation with that of any of the games, though the character designs are based from their Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 sprites. Perhaps the most notable aspect of the show was that it provided the debut of Quan Chi, a key character in the MK series who was the villain of Mortal Kombat 4 and part of the Deadly Alliance. The show was focused on a group of warriors assembled by Raiden to defend Earthrealm from invaders who entered through portals from various other dimensions. The assembled warriors included Liu Kang, Kurtis Stryker, Sonya Blade, Jax, Kitana, and Sub-Zero, with Nightwolf functioning mostly as tech support but still entering the fray on various occasions. The warriors operated out of a hidden base from where Nightwolf and Raiden monitored portal openings; the warriors would fly dragon-shaped jets to deal with disturbances. Shao Kahn was something of an arch-villain throughout the series, being responsible for allowing other realms to invade Earthrealm. The finale involved Kitana leading a rebellion from Outworld against Kahn. However, the battle still rages on. The main character, Rei Fukai, pilots the Super Sylph B-503 fighter, nicknamed "Yukikaze", an advanced armed tactical reconnaissance plane equipped with a near-sentient AI computer system, and belongs to the Special Air Force (SAF), the strategic recon wing of Fairy Air Force (FAF). After one mission, B-503 and crew encountered what appears to be a friendly Super Sylph, but without IFF. A few classmates idolize him; one (Midori Kasugano from a different school) shyly loves him from afar; but most are just afraid of him, which has made it impossible for him to find a girlfriend—until one morning when he wakes to find a miniature Midori attached to where his right hand used to be. Over the next two weeks the pair adapt to this sudden and forced closeness. Much mayhem, and some romance, ensue. Seiji does his best to hide Midori from other people; she wears a bandage around her head and pretends to be his injured hand. Midori frequently professes her love to Seiji (even wearing a dress she made and embroidered with "I ? Seiji"), but Seiji fails to notice, even as he frequently laments that he'll never find a girl who loves him. The connection between Midori and Seiji appears to be between her waist, or near it, and his wrist, but it is never explicitly shown (he always wears long sleeves, and she usually wears a dress; the most shows the curve of her waist) nor explained. Midori's body seems to function normally; she sleeps, eats, and (it's hinted to Dr. Makinoha) her physiological needs are fulfilled using Seiji's excretory system. The series contains heavy fanservice with frontal nudity and several scenes of an ecchi or sexual nature.
