Free BSD is an pure core without anything. Just see it as the EXE core system of windows. All applications of windows run on that exe system.

FreeBSD is just the same but is doesn't have any other appliacations. So if you want to run an webserver you have to install it.

and installing on a Freebsd system can become a pain in the ass. You have to use the ports system to do it, which just downloads the source for whaetever you want, that needs to be compilied (most of the time there isn't any compliation errors) and then it will be installed; however, most of the time there are some hard to do post installation things which can make the average computer user very frustrated

You mean it's only the kernel and you've got to compile the rest?
Please don't ecuate it with windumb. It somewhat throws a bad picture on BSD

Yo I have an amd64 core and have to compile packages from time to time, too.
And dave55man you're certainly right. Compiling can be a pain in the ass.
Ever used ARM cores (minipcs f.ex)? That's a hell of much compiling stuff.

Let's just say that ubuntu is a debian derivate, so the commandstructures are quite similar .
I like my debian more, though I also think that Ubuntu is a very good choice.

Tho, I ran a sim poll on a ecchi/hentai/MMO gaming site and out of the 30 or so, I was the only none win32

But ya, The groups of users tend to migrate to sim areas. There isn't a lot of mixing in em. So it seems IMO.
