MAC: Font Error

Recently, I loaded a Final Fantasy.ttf font onto my MAC OSX, then installed it with fontbook. So I went onto Photoshop, and tried to put it on a picture. It appeared in the drop down menu, but then as I typed a random letter, nothing appeared... The cursor moves right, but no letters appear. I changed the color, size etc. No Luck. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried google and apparently no one has the same problem as me...

What is the point of the font?
What are the filename requirements of the MAC fontbook?

What format do you believe the font may have been saved in(ended sentence in preposition sorry)?

Do you have a Windows machine/partition to test the font(I ask this to isolate the possibility that it's a MAC only issue)?

Sorry to ask questions to answer your question, but I have a theory about the cause of your issue.

This is good question. I add if it is *.ttf it could be opened in some graphic viewer -> xNview, ACDSee, irfanview.... Try if it shows there, if not, the file is just empty or corrupted.

I only use mac..
I have no idea.. it was a .ttf that I downloaded off of a site. There were no issues installing it, and it showed up fine in the preview. I suppose this is just some random issue I'll never figure out.

First of all, I'm too lazy to refind the link.
And.. finding out the problem wont help... I need to know how to fix it...
I just recently just DL a few more fonts, some worked, some didn't.

That's a highly illogical statement. Cause is always how we find a solution. That's why we're asking these questions. Please have an open, scientific mind about the problem.

Now I know, where can be problem... Language support. Maybe you haven't installed the proper language support. It may cause troubles with fonts, even if they are in Latin.

Whoever submitted this turd left it incomplete. I opened it in windows, and windows couldn't make heads or tails of certain characters. Without the lowercase letters in the font, any program that uses it would be confused.

I haven't tried it in PS, primarily because I don't have it. Has anyone else tested it on their machines?

EDIT: It worked in openoffice, but only the uppercase letters work, the lowercase letters look like something out of a dream when you try to read.
