tried to start tractor *mumble .. mumble* wouldn't start! think i flooded it ... man - this Olympus FE-20 is the BOMB!! tiny enuff for a t-shirt pocket, 8MB pix [they are HUGE], like a 6 or 7 times zoom [with the software zoom] and does 640x480 video w/sound [haven't tested THAT yet...]. i'm pretty sure i can take a hummingbird pic and get the wings w/no movement - i gotta look @ the settings. it says it will do a shutter speed of 1/2000 of a second!!! i am going to find out how - and test THAT feature next!!! i fit 11 pix of 8MB each on the internal memory. a 2GB card [$20 -aMAZING!!] brings it up to 865 pix @ 8MB each. going to test other resolutions - i figure 4MB pix should be enuff for great quality and more room on the card. this thing has a preset even for taking pix of documents!! more later ...

I am a fan of Canon rebel. It takes great shots and the lenses from the old manual canon can be used on it. That saves some money. Considering one of the most expensive lenses for this camera costs around 10 000. That is CDN funds.

| actually i'm a fan of sony. i'm not a big photo buff [sounds like you are vking!], but we used cameras in my Video Creations business - did wedding videos, stuff like that. we own a sony mavica mvc-fd91 with a 14X optical zoom that uses filters and lenses. we also own 2 sony digital-8 handycam dcr-trv830s with 20/500 X zoom that uses lenses and filters BUT!!!!.... Olympus being a VERY good brand name in cameras, the "bang-for-the-buck" factor in the FE-20 is PHE-nominal!!! for the average "i just want to take a pic" joe, this thing is [as i said b4] The BOMB!!!!! size-wise it's only 3.5" wide x 2.25" high x 0.75" thick!!! this thing is the size of my first three fingers together!! ultra-TINY! my wife likes that she can carry this in her purse. no - if you want to play with photography, lenses and stuff like that - this IS too simple [but STILL powerful!]. but if you just want to take a pic - wow. | On that respect I agree. For quick photos they are great I have a Kodak C643. I've used it so much that the lettering is wearing off. It does pics and vids. |

I believe I had an Olympus camera but it was kinda crappy. The batteries didn't last long at all, it would stop working time to time, sometimes you could put new batteries in the thing and it would still say they were dead... I think it just hates me but yeah lol, I don't use cameras too much so I don't know too much about the models out these days.

every company has it's lemons. this one [the FE-20], if great. not sure about the battery issue, being a new camera. sounds like a wiring or circuit board error. if you buy it at Office Max, you can upgrade the warranty to 2 or 3 years. any thing past that is gravy.
