| Just some of my random pencil sketches on paper. Don't expect any masterpieces here. I don't do ink.....yet, but I'm leaning towards that. It's pretty dirty 'cause I prefer to keep the guidelines, which I like in pencil sketches. So, ladies and gentlemen of the wonderful community of ftp-anime, I welcome all criticisms. C'mon, give your opinions/criticisms, but be constructive about it. ![]() Last edited by opensurferweb; 29-09-2009 at 08:08 AM. |

| Agreed the second pic is my favorite as well but all are good. Nice use of angles on the faces. The only extremely slight critisism is that the last one looks a little flat but judging form the rest I don't think that's a real problem for you. Can't wait for more |

| Thanks for the opinions nnnmmm, RioFox! ![]() Truth be told, the second pic is a reference picture from the Erementar Gerard manga. Took me 5 minutes to build the blocks and 20 minutes to fill in the details. ![]() The rest of the pics are my originals. Hahaha! Its pretty hard to build something without some good reference. Its not so much that drawing is difficult, but when you try to draw something from scratch using your imagination, that's a real challenge. You gotta keep the image you want to draw in your mind.![]() Oh yeah...update time! All 3 are my originals. No reference. Took me 30 minutes to build the guy and about 2 hours to build both the ladies!![]() 2 hours because I tend to draw heavy lines and my hands weren't trained so well to draw females (what with all the curves and all). ![]() |

| Templar's Grand Master Lord of FTP-Anime | they're all good pictures, and its funny, cause i am not that good at drawing male characters, but i love drawing females... haha! anyway, when you are done, you should try to ink your art. it makes them much clearer when you scan them and makes it easier to edit them on the computer if you decide to do that. my only problem with the art was the left breast (from the womans point of view)on the second picture, is a little off, as in the they seem to be different sizes. that is the only criticism i have.

| I agree with hina on the left breast in the second pic but it seems I was right about flatness not being a real problem for you. Good stuff (the first pic is my favorite) |

| Thanks for your input guys/gals! I really appreciate it. nnnmmm your opinions are quite informative. I thank you. Good to know that some of my drawings has some "meat" in it. ![]() The first pic came from inspiration after playing Samurai Showdown 4. The design is based off Kazuya, but the action and point of view of the character came from imagination ![]() ![]() welovehina, you're right. The pics do look light when you scan them. I'm using a regular HB pencil. Should I go for a 6B or 7B? Or maybe I should start learning to ink? Last edited by opensurferweb; 30-09-2009 at 05:06 PM. |

| Templar's Grand Master Lord of FTP-Anime | well, i find that inking works the best heres some examples of my work.
i find that when you ink it, the lines are clearer, and the damn paper doesnt smudge, messing it up. the way to ink it is very easy. just draw over the lines with a black pen. it takes forever to do without messing up, but when you are done, the graphite doesnt smudge, and your pictures last a lot lot longer. however, i dont suggest inking in shading yet, as that takes a LOT of practice to do correctly, as you need to master the distance between lines, instead of how hard you press with the pencil. when shading with ink, the darker you want something to look, the closer together the lines must be, but if you want the shading to be lighter, the lines must be farther apart. plus, when shading, you need to have the grain of the shading consitant... so much effort... anyway, just trace the outer lines with ink, and you will be set! (if you are afraid of messing up with the ink, and wanna go with pencil... well, it really depends... darker pencils are better for outlines, lighter is better for shading... thats up for ur discretion.)
