Yeah, most languages here have the same origins anyway...
Even though Dutch sounds a lot like German to "others", German is not a language which would come "natural" to us. If you know what I mean.

It's not like Swedish and Norwegian...

Yes, those words do sound a lot like each other, but they're not exactly the same.
But they are Germanic languages I guess...very different from French.
