I used to work for the circus and learned a little Polish, Russian and Spanish.
There was two jokes that we all told at the BIG SHOW when people asked about language problems. 1st. Every body here speaks at least two languages, English and Broken English. 2nd. If you speak three languages, you are tri-lingual. If you speak two languages, you are bi-lingual. And if you speak one language your an American. |

Hahaha
My dad told me that joke a while back and I thought it was the funniest true joke I'd ever heard. And... What's it like to be in a circus? >.>

The circus is not a job, it's a life style.
A new town every week, sometimes twice a week. Getting to know people from the far reaches of the planet and getting paid to do it. Learning what you can do, what you can't do, and what can be done with help. Seeing and doing what only a small fraction of a percent of the people of the planet have seen and done, and knowing how special that knowledge and experience is. Maybe some day I will write a book about it. |

English is the only language that I am fluent in, the rest was just to be polite to the performers and the other workers that came with them.
At the time I joined, they had a unit that was traveling in Japan and I hoped to be able to transfer to that unit and get to experience Japan up close and personal. I have been interested in Japan since I first saw station 48 out of N.Y.C. in 1980. and got to see Japanese programs in their original form, without the dubbing and the editing. The two shows that struck me most were "Cyborg 009" and "Galaxy Express 999". In 1980 you can imagine the impact these programs could have on a person in comparison to the rest of the American programing that was around at the time. Just after I joined the unit in Japan was closed down. |

I used to know Turbo Pascal 7.0 and some other stuff, haven't used them in years so I don't remember anything about them... Do HTML and CSS and stuff like that count? EDIT: Yes, also HTML and CSS. Ah and I also used to know VB. |

I knew Pascal, VB, some C, HTML, and the commands from; Unix, DOS, CISCO, and Novell. Too many head slaps while playing football damaged my hard drive a bit, so I have corrupted sectors.
