as old as it may be i want one of these

fitted with a Ford coswrorth engine, with a twin turbo conversion and a few other minor adjustments pushing around 650bhp

If I had the cash, I'd make a:

-carbon-fiber shell
-plug in electri/hydrogen fuel cell hybrid
-a new type of plastic based battery, instead of the current metal plate/ acid or base chemical batteries we use now
-80mpg
-top speed 80mph
-magnetic clutch and braking system
-non pneumatic tires, instead it'd have plastic spring type rims
-the price tag of $7500

The car would be geared toward low income families and students.

OH YE GODS! Not a Plymouth, Chrysler, or Dodge. They raped my childhood. I spent many a years as a kid pulling parts of their poorly engineered crap. Sixteen bolts to take off a fender, are you kidding me?

No, but the Tesla car has promise. Just no backers.
