If you study General Relativity, you'll find out that it's kind of impossible to survive a black hole...there are nicer ways to die. |

WTH? Won't you just be stuck on Event horizon? I think, It's the point at the edge of blackhole, where time teoretically stops...

It would seem like that for outside observers, but trust me you do get sucked in and you die a horrible death (though I haven't experienced it myself, and hope I never will)

I remember how I was watching discovey science channel and they had a segment on the Hubble Telescope, from its creation to its launch. They talked about what effect black holes would have. The narrator said that it would obliterate every heavenly body in the system and that there would be no way to stop it....sounds like my kind of power.

I can't remember then name of the particles, but I believe there's a theoretical particle that can escape the gravity of black holes.
Anyhow there's more to fear in the universe. Gamma ray bursts for one.

. Regardless, on our current rate of resource consumption and pollution, I estimate that the Earth will not last longer than 100-200 more years if we dont change our habits...but thats just me. I aint no genius...

Well, humankind may not last much longer than that, but the Earth will continue long after it's shed us.
I recall watching a Science Channel documentary on the Earth's magnetic field, and how it's shifting. Problem is, that allows more radiation to hit Earth, so in about 1000 years parts of the Earth will be well done.

There's no problem once the shift has happened, but during the shift itself there is a problem. Unfortunately for us, it's hard/impossible to know when exactly it's going to happen. |
