Its a side project of FTP-Anime. So on a new domain. It will be a lot more userfriendly than anidb and with some more functions for the users

Well were making use of ajax to make the user comfort higher and were trying to create a more easy to understand design.

For the rest can I only share the extra functions we're going to add if you are joining because of other people that see this thread.

How bout unlock mostly everything to a guest [Visible] but when they click on the Downlaods area they receive a message that they need to sign up... will that increase member signups, or decrease [this is for the forum]
Or an alternative is to hide the download links that only when the guests signup will be able to view them...
In my honest opinion, the second is better cause then the guests will be able to view the Data we have, just not be able to download till registered, and also it should not give any hidden problems for search engines too

just preventing form DL is better, since at least you could still have the info of what's happening... and if you still really interest in it, you'll sign in (register )




P.S. like what happend when I registered here... i was a little annoyed for not able to see what is here... but somehow i was really interested in getting SPIRAL so i signed just like another lame leecher. get that anime and bye bye here... but after seeing a lot of other things i feel interested and bla bla bla... now you know me... but if that was a casualty, if i weren't realy interested in SPIRAL i had just got away and never came back... mabe just my thoughts and my story...

Well people visit trough google because of the downloads. If I make them invisible the visit rate will shoot down making less people that sign up.

ok just thought that since you are working in this project... i would like to give my opinion... just to let you know....

ok when i was studying Databases i started my own project to import all my Excel anime database to a real Database (in that case i used postgres) i manege to make almost 80% of my personal protect and started a little test to see how it worked just when my old laptop died I couldn't save it and continue from what i had... so frustrated and abandoned it since change to Mac too (another factor )

soo this is an example of my anime database i have in excell

and i made some changes when i started in postgres .... mainly i started some changes in many of the data i already have to have it more order(just somehow addicted to that )

• I made some groups : so all the series the first and the sequels coudl be grouped togheter
• The burned column to something more ordered... like
  • external HD
  • DVD
  • HD....
  • and each one has diferent options like
    • name of DVD tower or Extenal HD
    • DVD number in the tower is 1-50 (since each tower is of 50 DVDs)
• New/old i made more varieted as many other programs and animeDB has like airing, completed, new release, dropped, interested and those things
• in the quality i put the resolution and other extra options like hardsubs, softsubs
• Fansub the name of fansub or fansubs that i have the anime
• in the episodes i extende it and unite it wiht the total eps and size... like a detailed as the comment there... total eps, and each episode size
  • the fansub, extention of the file (mkv, ogm, avi, mp4)
  • for a single episode or group of episodes like the example above
• and after all that i even add something for my own coment about the anime, and other extra opinion to rate it.... more detalled as:
  • graphics
  • story
  • fansub work
  • action
  • mecha
  • and more i forgot now
  • just aply the ones i did saw in that anime, and each one has a rate 1-5... so the global score is an average...

this could help and be accepted for the ppl that are addicted to details and order as me hope this coudl help a little for other ideas
