I just wanted to throw a heads up out there to all users. I will begin indiscriminate deletions of all duplicate threads within the Movie and Game forums starting today. Seeing as we are being swamped with them, I found it necessary to contain this spread. Its sucking up resources and driving patience to the brink. I asked for and was given powers in order to proceed with this endeavor. I urge mods who are responsible for the aforementioned sections to take similar action as well. If there are any problems with my plan, please contact me through the available channels. Thanks.

Yes there's one problem with the plan, IT WON'T HELP!

The real issue is the people posting all those UG links,they do not respond to PM's comments, or posts.
They do nothing but post an endless stream of there crappy UG links.

The only way to fix this is to stop them from posting, PERIOD.
As long as you go easy on them like this they will just keep on posting.
Also i say "them" in the stupid expectation that "they" are more then one person, or even a person at all.

Okay i said what i came to say.
I'm sorry if i was to direct but i am sort of sick of the whole thing.

I appreciate your concern on the matter, but we are well aware that drastic action beyond simply deleting posts is needed and we have taken that sort of action already. I assumed long ago, and with the help of the other mods was proven, that the posters are in reality bots originating primarily from Asian countries. Most have been axed, and therefore the number of posts has dwindled. We are simply working on the rest of the clean up now, but deleting hundreds of pages of repeat links is daunting in the least. Cheers.

One question though.. why spam us with semi useful links?
I mean most sucked but the ones that only had like 6 barely useful.

You are welcome. Thanks for the faith. . To be honest I have no idea why they would post them. UG really REALLY sucks. I used it a few times to download certain games that werent readily available in other forms but it didnt mean I liked it. It was probably some dumb ass hackers or something spreading it everywhere. I highly doubt we are the only victims. However, we have gotten control of the situation after I took some time to finally absorb what was going on and initiated a purge. There are still many posts to be deleted, and a couple new bots show up here and there but we will always be here to deny them the pleasure. We are working on a more permanent solution, but at this point nothing can be done that wont effectively make normal users lives a bit harder. I like easy, and im sure everyone else does. .

It is not just us
the UG has been spread around worldwide
I've dug around at lot's of forums and the UG is present there as well with Clones and all
but the only difference is that the people of those forums didn't really care because they weren't what you call a Community Site
Basically they were all Download sites where people post their links and that's about it
No conversations and discussions ; Simply sharing
so in that case the admins didn't really care about all the Spam
Technically there weren't any rules so it wasn't considered as spam

We just have to be sure we understand our own policy. We are not a lawless website. We have rules and regulations that have to be followed, by humans and by bots alike. Anything breaking those rules will be punished. Unlike some, WE are a community, and we need to reflect that in our behavior and our commitment to all members.

And it didn't help that after you delete a hundred or so, you turn around and 200 new posts spawned in the time you take to delete them But thanks to everyone in trying to get this resolved!
